🌐 Make your Shopify site multilingual

🌍 1. Enable additional languages

  1. Go to Shopify admin → Settings → Markets
  2. Click on “Primary market”(or a specific market)
  3. Scroll down to “Languages and domains”
  4. Click on “Add language”
  5. Choose the language (e.g. English, German, Spanish, etc.)
  6. Click “Add”

🌐 2. Install a translation app

Shopify does not automatically translate all your content.

You must use a translation app.

Shopify Translate & Adapt (official)

  • ✅ Free
  • ✅ Manual + automatic translation (DeepL)
  • Langify, Weglot, GTranslate(paid but more powerful)

✍️ 3. Translate your content

With the Translate & Adapt app:

  • Translate manually or use automatic translation

You can translate:

  • Product pages
  • Titles
  • Menus
  • Payment pages (partially)
  • SEO (meta tags)

🌐 4. Enable the language selector

  1. Go to Online Store → Themes
  2. Click on “Customize”
  3. At the top, in the drop-down menu, click on “Header”
  4. Enable the language selector
  5. You can display:
    • 🌍 Available languages
    • 💱 Currency (if configured)

🔁 Example: French + English

URLs become:

  • mysite.com/fr
  • mysite.com/en
  • Shopify automatically redirects based on the browser language if enabled
